Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 large onion, diced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cans (14.5 oz each) diced tomatoes
- 2 cans (15 oz each) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 tablespoon cumin
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1/4 cup masa harina or cornmeal (optional, for thickening)
- Toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped green onions, chopped cilantro, diced avocado, tortilla chips
Directions
- In a large pot or Dutch oven, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the pot with the ground beef. Cook for another 5 minutes, or until the onion is translucent.
