Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups peeled and diced apples
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the creamed mixture and mix until blended.
  4. Spread the dough evenly into the prepared pan. In a bowl, mix together the apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and walnuts. Spread over the dough.
  5. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until golden brown. Cool before cutting into bars.
