Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound smoked sausage, cut into 1/2-inch thick slices
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup white wine
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried marjoram
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 cups sliced mushrooms
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons cold water

Directions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the sausage and cook until lightly browned, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the onion and garlic and cook until the onion is softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add the white wine, thyme, marjoram, and black pepper and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Add the mushrooms and cook for 5 minutes.
  6. Add the beef broth and bring to a boil.
  7. In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and cold water until combined.
  8. Add the cornstarch mixture to the skillet and stir until the gravy is thickened, about 3 minutes.
  9. Serve the sausage and gravy over mashed potatoes.
