Ingredients

  • 1 cup sauerkraut, drained and chopped
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • Oil for frying

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together sauerkraut, cheddar cheese, cream cheese, mayonnaise, green onions, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper until well combined.
  2. Using your hands, shape the mixture into small balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. Place the flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs in three separate shallow dishes.
  4. Dip each sauerkraut ball first in the flour, then in the egg, and finally in the breadcrumbs, making sure to coat them evenly.
  5. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Fry the sauerkraut balls in batches for about 3-4 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove the balls with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
