Ingredients
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 pound ground beef
1 onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes
1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1 (4 ounce) can diced green chiles
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Directions
Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
Add the ground beef and onion and cook, stirring often, until the beef is no longer pink and the onion is softened, about 5 minutes.
Stir in the garlic, tomatoes, beans, green chiles, chili powder, cumin, oregano, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper.
Bring to a simmer, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Uncover and simmer for an additional 10 minutes, or until the liquid is slightly thickened.
