Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes
- 1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
- 1 (4 ounce) can diced green chiles
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Directions
- Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add the ground beef and onion and cook, stirring often, until the beef is no longer pink and the onion is softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the garlic, tomatoes, beans, green chiles, chili powder, cumin, oregano, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper.
- Bring to a simmer, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Uncover and simmer for an additional 10 minutes, or until the liquid is slightly thickened.
- Serve hot.
