Learn how to make delicious and nutritious Kimbap, a popular Korean dish similar to sushi rolls. This recipe features a variety of vegetables, egg, and ham wrapped in seasoned rice and seaweed. It is a versatile and portable meal that can be enjoyed as a snack, lunch, or dinner. Follow this step-by-step recipe to create your own homemade Kimbap that will impress your family and friends.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups cooked short-grain rice
  • 5 sheets of roasted seaweed (nori)
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • 1 cucumber, julienned
  • 1 yellow pickled radish, julienned
  • 4 eggs, beaten and cooked into thin sheets
  • 4 slices of ham, julienned
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Directions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked rice, sesame oil, soy sauce, sugar, and salt. Mix well until the rice is evenly coated with the seasoning.
  2. Place a sheet of seaweed on a bamboo sushi mat. Spread a thin layer of the seasoned rice evenly onto the seaweed, leaving a small border at the top.
  3. Arrange the julienned vegetables, egg sheets, and ham in a line across the center of the rice. Be sure not to overfill the Kimbap.
  4. Using the bamboo mat, tightly roll the seaweed and rice over the filling, applying pressure to create a compact roll. Moisten the top border with water to seal the roll.
  5. Repeat the process with the remaining seaweed, rice, and filling ingredients.
  6. Using a sharp knife, slice the Kimbap into bite-sized pieces. Serve and enjoy!
