Ingredients
- 500 grams (4 cups) all-purpose flour
- 7 grams (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast
- 75 grams (1/3 cup) granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 100 grams (7 tbsp) unsalted butter, softened
- 4 large eggs, beaten
- 120 ml (1/2 cup) whole milk, lukewarm
- 1 egg yolk, beaten (for egg wash)
Directions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
- Add the softened butter and beaten eggs. Mix until well combined.
- Gradually add the lukewarm milk and knead the dough for 10-15 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until it doubles in size.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air. Divide it into equal portions and shape them into balls or place them in a greased loaf pan.
- For individual brioche buns, place the balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving enough space between each ball.
- Cover the shaped dough with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise for another 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until it puffs up.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Brush the tops of the brioche with the beaten egg yolk to create a shiny glaze.
- Bake the brioche in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until they turn golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack before serving.
