Learn how to make classic Churros at home with this easy and delicious recipe. Crispy on the outside, soft and tender on the inside, these golden fried pastries are a popular Spanish treat. Serve them with a side of warm chocolate sauce for a truly indulgent experience.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  2. Reduce heat to low and add flour all at once. Stir vigorously until mixture forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
  3. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
  4. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or Dutch oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a star-shaped nozzle.
  7. Carefully pipe strips of dough into the hot oil, cutting them with scissors or a knife. Fry until golden brown, turning occasionally.
  8. Remove churros from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  9. In a shallow dish, combine sugar and cinnamon. Roll warm churros in the mixture until coated.
  10. Serve immediately with warm chocolate sauce for dipping.
