Spread the potato chips on a baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes until lightly browned.
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and vegetable oil. Heat on high for 1 minute, then stir until chips are completely melted and smooth.
Dip each potato chip in the melted chocolate, coating both sides. Place back on the baking sheet.
If desired, sprinkle the chips with crushed candy or nuts. Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator to cool for 10 minutes.
