In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt; stir into the creamed mixture until just blended. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheets. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden brown. Let stand on cookie sheet for 2 minutes before removing to cool on wire racks.
