Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour an 8 inch square pan.
In a medium bowl, cream together the 1/2 cup butter, 1/2 cup sugar and salt until light and fluffy. Stir in the vanilla. Gradually beat in the flour until a soft dough forms. Press the dough into the prepared pan.
Bake for 15 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the dough is lightly browned. Sprinkle the top of the crust with the chopped pecans.
In a large bowl, beat together the eggs, evaporated milk, white sugar, and 2 tablespoons melted butter. Pour the mixture over the crust and pecans.
Bake for an additional 30 minutes in the preheated oven, or until set. Let cool before serving.
