Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 2/3 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup currants
Directions
- Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease a baking sheet.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, salt and sugar.
- Add the butter and buttermilk and mix until a soft dough forms.
- Stir in the currants.
- Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for a few minutes.
- Shape the dough into a round loaf and place on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown.
- Cool before slicing.
