Ingredients
- 1 cup popcorn kernels
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup light corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped peanuts or almonds (optional)
Directions
- In a large pot, melt butter over medium-high heat.
- Add brown sugar, corn syrup, and vanilla extract and stir until combined.
- Add popcorn kernels to the pot and stir until coated with the caramel mixture.
- Cover the pot with a lid and reduce heat to low. Shake the pot occasionally to prevent the popcorn from burning.
- Once the popcorn is done popping, remove from heat and stir in baking soda.
- Spread the popcorn onto a greased baking sheet and sprinkle chocolate chips and chopped nuts over the top.
- Bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 10 minutes.
- Remove from oven and let cool before serving.
