Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup melted butter
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup water

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the melted butter, flour, eggs, sugar, baking soda, vanilla extract, lemon zest, and salt.
  3. Gradually add the water to the mixture and stir until the dough is soft and pliable.
  4. Roll out the dough on a floured surface until it is about 1/4 inch thick.
  5. Using a pastry wheel or sharp knife, cut the dough into strips about 1/2 inch wide and 4 inches long.
  6. Fold the strips at the center and pinch the ends together to form bow-ties.
  7. Place the bow-ties on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until lightly golden brown.
  8. Let cool before serving.
