Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons cold butter, cubed
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 3 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, combine melted butter, brown sugar, and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Mix until combined. Add flour and salt, and mix until crumbly. Stir in the cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse meal. Gradually add the cold water, stirring until the dough comes together.
  3. Press the dough into a 9-inch pie plate. Bake for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool.
  4. In a large bowl, combine apples, cranberries, white sugar, cornstarch, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Stir to combine.
  5. Pour the apple mixture into the cooled pie crust. Dot with butter. Bake for 30 minutes, or until the filling is bubbly and the crust is golden brown.
  6. Allow to cool before serving.
