Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 4 tablespoons butter, cut into cubes
- 1/3 cup dry white wine
- 1/3 cup cold water
- 4 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar, for dusting
Directions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar and salt.
- Add the butter cubes to the flour mixture and rub with your fingertips until the mixture resembles sand.
- Add the wine and water and mix together until a dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured work surface and knead until it is smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and let rest for 30 minutes.
- Divide the dough into 8 pieces and roll each piece into a thin circle, about 1/8 inch thick.
- Brush each circle with melted butter and sprinkle with sugar.
- Carefully wrap the circles around a cannoli tube and press to seal the edges.
- Fry the cannoli shells in hot oil until golden brown, about 2 minutes.
- Drain on paper towels and let cool before serving.
