Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup crushed candy canes
  • Additional 1/2 cup powdered sugar for rolling

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, cream together butter and 1/2 cup powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Gradually add to butter mixture, mixing until dough forms.
  4. In a shallow bowl, mix together crushed candy canes and 1/2 cup powdered sugar.
  5. Form dough into 1-inch balls, roll each ball in candy cane and sugar mixture to coat, and place on prepared baking sheets.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until edges are lightly browned. Cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
