Ingredients
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 ½ cups sugar
- 4 eggs
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time until fully incorporated.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Alternately add the flour mixture and the milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with the flour mixture.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
