Ingredients
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon chili powder

Directions
Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.

Stir in the cumin, chili powder, paprika, coriander, turmeric, and cayenne pepper and cook for 1 minute.
Add the lentils and broth and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer, partially covered, until the lentils are tender, about 20 minutes.
Stir in the salt and pepper.
Remove from the heat and let cool slightly.
Using an immersion blender, puree the soup until smooth.
Stir in the yogurt and cilantro.
Serve warm.
