Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup butter (melted)
- 2 eggs (beaten)
- 3/4 cup dark brown sugar
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup raisins (optional)
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
- In a medium bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, mix the melted butter, eggs, brown sugar, and buttermilk. Stir in the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Fold in the raisins, if desired.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan, and bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the bread comes out clean.
- Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
