Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
Directions
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, and salt. Slowly add the warm water and mix until a dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes, until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and set aside to rise for about 1 hour.
- Once the dough has doubled in size, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and knead again for about 2 minutes.
- Shape the dough into a round loaf and place on a lightly oiled baking sheet. Cover with a damp cloth and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Once the dough has doubled in size, brush the top with a little oil and sprinkle with some coarse salt. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the top is golden brown.
- Remove from oven and let cool before slicing.
