Ingredients

  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 2/3 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup raisins

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease an 8x4 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, molasses, boiling water, and melted butter. Mix until smooth.
  3. Stir in the flour, cornmeal, and raisins. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
  4. Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean.
