Ingredients
- 1 lb of steak (sirloin or other cut of your choice)
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- 1/2 cup of white wine
- 1/2 cup of heavy cream
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup of button mushrooms, sliced
- 1/4 teaspoon of thyme
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Directions
- Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Season the steak with salt and pepper and add to the skillet.
- Cook the steak for about 5 minutes on each side, or until it reaches the desired level of doneness.
- Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
- Lower the heat to medium and add the butter to the skillet.
- Add the onion and garlic, and cook until the onion is softened, about 3 minutes.
- Add the mushrooms and cook until they are softened and golden, about 5 minutes.
- Add the wine, cream, and thyme, and cook until the sauce has thickened, about 5 minutes.
- Return the steak to the skillet, and cook until heated through, about 3 minutes.
- Serve the steak and sauce over mashed potatoes, rice, or your favorite side dish.
