Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup finely chopped black walnuts
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch cake pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk. Stir in the chopped black walnuts.
- Pour batter into prepared cake pan. Bake for 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Allow to cool before serving.
