Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 cups apples, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup water

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. In a medium bowl, combine flour, white sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Spread evenly in an 8 inch square baking dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix together apples, brown sugar, and water. Pour over the flour mixture.
  5. Bake for 25 minutes, or until apples are tender and top is golden brown.
