Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup beer
  • 1/3 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Directions

  1. Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add flour and cook, stirring constantly, for 1 minute.
  3. Add beer, broth, garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, hot pepper sauce, salt and pepper and bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Stir in cheese and cook, stirring constantly, until cheese is melted.
  6. Serve warm with chips, breadsticks or roasted vegetables.
