Ingredients
- 2 lbs. steak (sirloin, ribeye, or flank steak)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
Directions
- In a large bowl, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, and sesame oil. Mix until combined.
- Add the steak to the mixture and turn to coat. Cover and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- Heat a grill pan or outdoor grill over medium-high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade and season with salt and pepper.
- Grill the steak for 5-7 minutes per side, or until desired doneness is reached.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and water. Add the mixture to the remaining marinade and stir until combined.
- Bring the marinade to a boil in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Boil for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened.
- Remove the steak from the grill and let rest for 5 minutes. Slice the steak against the grain and serve with the teriyaki sauce.
