Halibut with Garlic Sauce
Ingredients
3/4 cup mashed potatoes
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon nutmeg
2 eggs
1/2 cup butter, melted
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
Vegetable oil for frying
Directions
In a large bowl, mix together the mashed potatoes, sugar, nutmeg, eggs, and melted butter.
In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Combine the wet and dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to 1/4 inch thick.
Cut out the donuts using a donut cutter or a biscuit cutter.
In a large, deep skillet, heat the oil to 375 degrees F.
Fry the donuts in the oil for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
Remove the donuts from the oil and drain on paper towels.
Serve immediately, or store in an airtight container.

These donuts were originally made in the 1800s in Pennsylvania Dutch country.
The addition of mashed potatoes makes these donuts extra fluffy and flavorful.
