Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • Filling: 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 1/2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • Frosting: 6 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions

  1. In a bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add sugar, melted butter, eggs, salt, and flour. Mix until dough comes together.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  5. Roll the dough out into a large rectangle and spread softened butter on top.
  6. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle evenly over the dough.
  7. Roll up the dough tightly and cut into 12 equal pieces.
  8. Place rolls in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Bake at 350°F for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  10. While the rolls are baking, beat cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla for the frosting.
