Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup whiskey
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup whiskey-infused buttercream frosting

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add vanilla extract and whiskey and mix until combined.
  5. Alternate adding flour mixture and buttermilk to butter mixture, mixing after each addition until just combined.
  6. Stir in chopped pecans.
  7. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Let cake cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. In a medium bowl, whisk together powdered sugar and whiskey-infused buttercream frosting until smooth and creamy.
  10. Spread frosting over cooled cake and enjoy!
