Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour

- 1 cup evaporated milk
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 cups confectioners' sugar

Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
- In a medium bowl, cream together the 1/2 cup butter and sugar. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt; stir into the creamed mixture until well blended. Stir in the 1/2 cup walnuts. Spread batter into the prepared pan.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the 1/2 cup butter. Stir in the evaporated milk. Bring to a boil and cook for 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, and stir in the confectioners' sugar and 1/4 cup chopped walnuts. Pour over the cake batter.
- Bake in preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Cool before serving.
