Ingredients
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
4 cups vegetable broth
2 cups pumpkin puree
Salt and pepper to taste

Directions
Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
Add the cumin, paprika, oregano, nutmeg, cinnamon, and ginger and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
Add the vegetable broth and pumpkin puree and stir to combine.
Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Optional: add the heavy cream and stir to combine.
Serve hot.
