Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 2 cups thinly sliced vegetables (such as carrots, onions, mushrooms, peppers, and broccoli)
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Directions

  1. In a medium-sized bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Gradually stir in the cold water until a smooth batter is formed.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Dip the sliced vegetables into the batter and carefully place them into the hot oil.
  5. Fry the vegetables for 3-5 minutes or until golden-brown.
  6. Carefully remove the vegetables from the hot oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb the excess oil.
  7. Serve the tempura vegetables hot with a dipping sauce of your choice.
