Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts, plus more for garnish (optional)

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, salt, and baking powder.
  4. Slowly add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, stirring until the dough comes together.
  5. Fold in the walnuts, if desired.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  7. Using your hands or a cookie scoop, form the dough into 1-inch balls and place on the prepared baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
