- 1 cup butter, softened
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts, plus more for garnish (optional)
Directions
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, salt, and baking powder.
- Slowly add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, stirring until the dough comes together.
- Fold in the walnuts, if desired.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Using your hands or a cookie scoop, form the dough into 1-inch balls and place on the prepared baking sheets.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
