Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons ghee
- 2 tablespoons raw rice
- 1/2 cup freshly grated coconut
- 1/4 cup sugar or jaggery
- 4 cups water
Directions
- Heat the ghee in a heavy-bottomed pan over medium heat.
- Add the raw rice and stir for a few minutes until fragrant.
- Add the freshly grated coconut and stir until the coconut is lightly toasted.
- Add the sugar or jaggery and stir until dissolved.
- Add the water and bring to a boil.
- Reduce the heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 20 minutes or until the rice is cooked.
- Serve the kheer warm or chilled.
