Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 cups chopped onions
- 2 cups chopped celery
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon dried sage
- 1 teaspoon dried marjoram
- 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 pound bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 8 cups cubed stale bread
- 2-3 cups chicken broth
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
- Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the onions and celery, and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the thyme, sage, marjoram, rosemary, salt, and pepper and cook for 1 minute.
- Remove from the heat and stir in the bacon.
- In a large bowl, combine the bread cubes and bacon-vegetable mixture.
- Slowly add enough chicken broth to moisten the mixture.
- Transfer the stuffing to a 9-by-13-inch baking dish.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until golden brown.
