Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8-inch (20 cm) square baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter and confectioners' sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour and salt. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, stirring until just blended.
  4. Press the dough evenly into the prepared pan.
  5. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until golden brown. Allow to cool before cutting into bars.
