Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chicken, cut into 8 pieces
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Salt to taste

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the yogurt, cumin, coriander, garam masala, ginger, turmeric, pepper, cayenne, lemon juice, and oil. Mix well.
  2. Add the chicken pieces to the bowl and toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
  3. Preheat the tandoori oven to 500 degrees F.
  4. Arrange the chicken pieces on the tandoori rack and cook for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and golden brown.
  5. Remove the chicken from the oven and season with salt to taste.
  6. Serve the chicken hot with your favorite sides.
