Ingredients

  • 1 (16-ounce) can of grape leaves, drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup of uncooked long-grain rice
  • 1/2 cup of chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup of chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/4 cup of chopped fresh dill
  • 1/4 cup of olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1/2 cup of lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup of water

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the rice, onion, parsley, dill, olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  2. Lay a grape leaf flat on a work surface and spoon about 1 tablespoon of the rice mixture into the center. Fold the sides of the leaf over the filling and roll it up like a burrito. Place the rolled leaf in a large pot.
  3. Repeat the process with the remaining grape leaves and filling. Place the rolled leaves in the pot in layers, making sure not to overcrowd them.
  4. Pour the lemon juice and water into the pot and cover it with a lid. Simmer the dolma over low heat for 30 minutes.
  5. Serve warm.
