Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3/4 cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup pecans, finely chopped
  • 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and flour a large baking sheet.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt and baking powder. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse meal.
  3. Stir in water and egg until blended. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes.
  4. Roll dough into a 12-inch circle. Sprinkle pecans and brown sugar over the dough. Drizzle melted butter over the top.
  5. Fold the dough over to form a ring. Place onto prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until golden brown. Cool before serving.
