Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup granulated sugar for sprinkling
Directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan with butter or non-stick spray.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
Press the dough evenly into the prepared pan. Sprinkle the remaining sugar over the top.
Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. Let cool completely before cutting into bars.
