Ingredients

  • 1 batch of sourdough starter
  • 2 cups of warm water
  • 2 teaspoons of salt
  • 4 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup of cooked crumbled sausage
  • 1 cup of shredded cheese
  • 1 cup of diced onion
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the sourdough starter, water, and salt.
  2. Mix in the flour until the dough comes together.
  3. Knead the dough for 10 minutes, until it is smooth and elastic.
  4. Form the dough into a ball and cover with a damp cloth.
  5. Let the dough rise for 1 hour at room temperature.
  6. In a separate bowl, combine the sausage, cheese, onion, and olive oil.
  7. Roll the dough out into a rectangle.
  8. Spread the stuffing over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border.
  9. Roll the dough up into a log shape.
  10. Place the log into a greased loaf pan.
  11. Cover the pan with a damp cloth and let it rise for another hour.
  12. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  13. Bake the loaf for 40 minutes, or until golden brown.
  14. Let the bread cool before slicing and serving.
