Ingredients

  • 1 cup black bread flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the black bread flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine the warm water, olive oil, and honey until blended.
  3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  4. Transfer the dough to a greased loaf pan and cover with a damp cloth. Let the dough rise for 10 minutes.
  5. Fill a large pot with 2 inches of water and bring to a boil. Reduce to a gentle simmer.
  6. Place the loaf pan in the pot and cover with a tight-fitting lid. Steam for 15 minutes.
  7. Remove the lid and let the bread cool before slicing and serving.
