Ingredients
- 2 lbs (900g) chicken drumsticks
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon grated ginger
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 2 teaspoons ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust according to spice preference)
- Salt to taste
- Fresh cilantro, for garnish
Directions
- In a large bowl, combine yogurt, lemon juice, minced garlic, grated ginger, ground cumin, ground coriander, turmeric, paprika, garam masala, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well to form a smooth paste.
- Add the chicken drumsticks to the bowl and coat them thoroughly with the marinade mixture. Make sure each piece is well coated.
- Cover the bowl and marinate the chicken in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight. This will allow the flavors to penetrate the chicken and make it more tender.
- Preheat the grill or oven to medium-high heat. If using a grill, oil the grates to prevent the chicken from sticking. If using an oven, preheat it to 400°F (200°C) and place the chicken on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
- Grill or bake the chicken for about 25-30 minutes, turning occasionally, until it is cooked through and nicely charred. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).
- Remove the chicken from the grill or oven and let it rest for a few minutes.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with naan bread, rice, or a side salad. Enjoy the flavorful and spicy Indian chicken!
