Ingredients

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed
  • 8 jalapeno peppers, seeded and halved lengthwise
  • 8 mini hot dogs or cocktail sausages
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet into a rectangle.
  3. Cut the pastry into 8 equal strips.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together the cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, salt, and pepper.
  5. Spread a thin layer of the cheese mixture onto each strip of puff pastry.
  6. Place a jalapeno half and a mini hot dog or cocktail sausage on one end of each strip.
  7. Roll up the pastry tightly, enclosing the jalapeno and hot dog.
  8. Repeat with the remaining strips of pastry and filling.
  9. Brush each wrapped jalapeno popper pig in a blanket with beaten egg.
  10. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top, if desired.
  11. Place the wrapped jalapeno popper pigs in a blanket on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  12. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and crispy.
