Ingredients
- 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup crumbled cooked bacon
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the green beans and cook for 4 minutes. Drain the green beans and set aside.
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute. Slowly whisk in the milk and garlic powder. Cook until the sauce is thick and bubbling, about 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in the cheese until melted. Add the green beans and bacon and stir until combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Transfer the green bean mixture to a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Bake for 15 minutes, or until bubbling and golden brown.
