Ingredients

  • 1 (4-5 pound) bone-in pork shoulder
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup chicken broth

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Trim excess fat from the pork shoulder.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, garlic powder, smoked paprika, chili powder, onion powder, cumin, oregano, salt, and pepper. Rub the seasoning blend all over the pork shoulder.
  3. Place the pork shoulder in a roasting pan and pour the chicken broth into the pan. Cover the pan with foil.
  4. Bake for 5-6 hours, or until the pork is fork tender. Remove the pan from the oven and let the pork cool for 15 minutes before shredding.
  5. Using two forks, shred the pork into bite-sized pieces.
  6. Serve the pulled pork with your favorite barbecue sauce.
