Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted

Directions

  1. In a small bowl, combine the warm water and yeast. Let stand for 10 minutes until the yeast is dissolved and bubbly.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, melted butter, and sugar. Add the yeast mixture and mix until the dough starts to come together. Knead the dough for 5-10 minutes, until it is smooth and elastic.
  3. Form the dough into a ball and place in a greased bowl. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let the dough rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  5. Roll out the dough into a 12x16-inch rectangle. Spread the cream cheese over the dough, then sprinkle with the grated cheddar cheese. Roll the dough up into a log and place on a greased baking sheet.
  6. Bake the cheese bread for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown and the cheese is bubbly. Let cool before slicing and serving.
