- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
Directions
- In a small bowl, combine the warm water and yeast. Let stand for 10 minutes until the yeast is dissolved and bubbly.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, melted butter, and sugar. Add the yeast mixture and mix until the dough starts to come together. Knead the dough for 5-10 minutes, until it is smooth and elastic.
- Form the dough into a ball and place in a greased bowl. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let the dough rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Roll out the dough into a 12x16-inch rectangle. Spread the cream cheese over the dough, then sprinkle with the grated cheddar cheese. Roll the dough up into a log and place on a greased baking sheet.
- Bake the cheese bread for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown and the cheese is bubbly. Let cool before slicing and serving.
