Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh green beans, rinsed and trimmed
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup toasted sesame seeds
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and white pepper. Slowly add water and egg, whisking until smooth.
  2. Add the green beans to the batter and mix until the beans are evenly coated.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Working in batches, carefully add the green beans to the hot oil and fry until golden and crispy, about 3-4 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
  4. Sprinkle the toasted sesame seeds over the green beans and serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
