Ingredients

  • 1 pound beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Cooked rice or noodles, for serving

Directions

  1. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, brown sugar, rice vinegar, ginger, and garlic. Mix well to combine.
  2. Add the sliced beef to the marinade and toss to coat. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add a tablespoon of oil and swirl to coat the pan.
  4. Remove the beef from the marinade, reserving the marinade for later. Add the beef to the hot skillet and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes, or until browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, add the sliced bell peppers and onion. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes, or until crisp-tender.
  6. Return the cooked beef to the skillet and pour in the reserved marinade. Stir-fry for an additional 2 minutes, or until the sauce thickens slightly.
  7. Season with salt and pepper, to taste.
  8. Garnish the stir-fry with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
